Rather than courses, we would suggest visits: vineyards, historic towns and prehistory in particular. Monsaraz is part of the Rota Historico (Historical Route) that also includes Évora, Redondo, Vila Vicosa, Borba, Estremoz and Reguengos. This is a renowned wine region and its wines are characterised by being grown mainly on granitic soils and in places on schistic soils. Typical varieties of red grapes include Periquita, Trincadeira, Aragonez and Moreto. The predominant varieties of white grapes are Roupeiro, Rabo de Ovelha, Manteúdo and Perrum. We would like to suggest you visit some of the wine cellars of the region- such as Esporão, Carmim, and Ribeira da Ervideira.

GUEST BOOK COMMENTS
"Marc’s lovely boutique hotel is a little bit of paradise. It is a stunningly renovated farming estate that couldn’t be more enchanting. The tastefully decorated interior of the apartments together with the amazing surrounding offers a romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Set in the beautiful landscape of Alentejo the charming buildings that form the estate are surrounded by orange trees that give a cool and welcoming shadow in the summer heat of Portugal’s countryside. The rich breakfast was delicious and in combination with the wonderful view on the gorgeous little village of Monsaraz a real treat. Marc was a wonderful host whom was always discreetly helpful and has great advice on restaurants. He created a wonderful atmosphere. We will warmly remember our nice conversations at the picturesque pool. We must highly recommend this breath-taking place although we would much prefer to keep it to ourselves. We will definitely come back!" Guest from UK, 2012
"Certainly the best place we stayed in during our round trip of Portugal! Nice and cosy for our autumn stay, it's a place to rest and laugh whether you want to be alone, or with the lovely owner Marc. It's one of THE places we treasure in our memory. Fantastic places to eat just nearby in Monsaraz too." Guest from France 2012
"Not too far from Monsaraz, the village, it is a secret place to relax staying in this unknown area from Portugal. It is perfect if you take a great book, your bike and family. Breakfast was delicious, home-made bread, marmalades and cakes." Guest from Spain, 2013
"The renovated farm house and little villas are beautiful and serene, and our casa du forno was sweet and beautiful as well. The delicious breakfast always included warm bread and fresh delights, and we even got to enjoy some sweet figs straight from the surrounding trees, which made are toddler most happy, The swimming pool just by the central house is the most beautiful we came across. Just the perfect location to experience a most peaceful vacation." Guest from Israel, 2012
