GUEST BOOK COMMENTS
"A friendly, quiet, relaxed and spotless place to stay, with quite reasonable fees as well. We stayed in the Double S room, which is the smallest of the four rooms. It was quite small, indeed, but not overly so. We were there for a week and could fit all our summer clothes into the wall closet while our luggage was kindly taken into storage by our hosts. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the Atlantic ocean. The bus and tram stops to Porto are close by as well, and the trip takes around 15 minutes. If you're feeling lazy and want to splurge on a taxi every now and then, don't hesitate - the taxi trip from the centre of Porto costs around 6 or 7 euros. However, it's quite easy and handy to use the regional public transportation system with a rechargeable travelcard, if you're not traveling by car. Catarina is the most friendly and attentive hostess you can imagine. She helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations, called us taxis and was always ready to help and answer all our questions. She and the rest of the staff prepared a delicious breakfast every morning with a bread selection, müsli, fruit and yoghurt, omelettes, chorizo, salami and freshly squeezed juice, tea and coffee. In addition to all that, once she even went to the small grocery store on my behalf to get some potato chips when I was already almost out the door- for no charge at all. I think that sums up the helpfulness and dedication of her and everybody." Guests from Finland
"We spent 3 wonderful days here. We loved all the details: every day a different breakfast, the daily change of towels, chocolates or cookies in the evening, etc... Catarina was the perfect host, it felt like staying at a friends house. Much better than a hotel! The location is excellent, the 500 bus around the corner takes you right into downtown Porto and the beach is only 5 minutes away from the hotel." Guests from Portugal
"This boutique hotel is in Foz, on the ocean, about a ten minute bus ride from the main part of town. Foz is an old fishing village, with beautiful small houses and cobblestone streets, and worth a stroll on its ramparts and beach. It is the perfect place to stay since Porto has lots of tourists and a complicated street grid. The B&B is beautiful and peaceful. Everything smelled so clean and fragrant. Though the rooms are quite small, they are perfectly designed and private. Breakfast was wonderful and different each day. Fabiana, who was the caretaker, was attentive, friendly and helpful-she couldn't have been nicer. An added bonus is that the hotel has a relationship with Pedro Lemos, a fabulous chef restaurant, two blocks away. The meal, the wine and the service blew us away. A definite plus." Guests from USA
"After seeing the touristy sites in Porto, you return to Foz....the wealthiest and nicest area of Porto, where restaurants and shopping are better than touristy downtown. The B&B was very chic chic. Very clean, very nice, very good atmosphere, very quiet and relaxed. We were so happy we selected it. I would definitely highly recommend this B&B to my friends on holiday in Porto, Portugal." Guests from USA
"This may be my favorite place I have ever stayed. Catarina made me feel incredibly welcome and comfortable from the moment I arrived, which is especially nice as a solo traveler. Every detail about the home and styling are designed to make guests feel welcome, warm and relaxed. Catarina went above and beyond the call of duty to make me feel welcome, and also, she was extremely helpful with tourist information, rental cars, port tastings, and restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was fantastic every day! The whole experience was like being taken care of by a family member - no scratch that - it is like being taken care of by your favorite family member! It is not located in the heart of Porto, but that turned out to be a good think, I think. Downtown Porto was fun for visiting, but it was nice to get away from the center and stay in a nice residential area. It was only a short bus or trolly ride to the center of town." Guest from USA
HIDEAWAY PORTUGAL visit. July 2012. This is a real find, a unique place and a perfect hideaway in a historic city. In the fashionable and well-to-do Foz district by the mouth of the Douro river and beaches, this old town-house is located on a quiet and charming cobbled lane, just a block up from the river and Passeio Alegre park. It's a relaxing place, by beaches and little bars. The historic Ribeira district with all the sights is a 15 minute tram ride along the river. Inside, the house has only four rooms and is elegant, cosmopolitan, minimalist, chic: designed by a Pritzker Prize winner and decorated with furnishings by famous names. Wonderful.
