Tranquil, rural, green, hilly, with farms, woodland and old villages. The Vez river is a short walk down a country track. The entrance to Peneda-Geres national park is only 10km away, including some of its most scenic and least-visited areas. Hiking, mountain-biking, river sports, mountaineering, horse-riding and nature tours all available: a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Nearby are provincial historic towns all worth visiting (Arcos de Valdevez, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima, Viana do Castelo, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Monçao, Valença). The region also has two main rivers- the Lima nearby and the Minho to the north. Easily accessible for day trips is Spain's Galicia region, with an indented coastline, Cies islands, Baiona and Santiago de Compostela. Porto, with its historic centre and Port wine cellars is approximately 1 hour away.

From the property, there are lovely country walks, the Vez river on your doorstep (good for summer swims), quiet hilly roads for cycling, tracks for mountain-biking and of course the scenic, mountainous Peneda-Geres national park, 10 km away. The park is a must- explore the villages, granite peaks, waterfalls by car, bike or on foot. Bring a bike. For those wanting to rent equipment and take part in guided tours of the area (including biking, trekking, horse-riding, kayaking, mountaineering), Lamosa has teamed up with a local tour operator, who can pick up guests from the property.
COURSES

Rather than courses, we recommend taking in the local historic sights and culture by exploring the villages, towns and farms in the area. Here, you'll see daily life, still very traditional and rural, and especially so up in the Peneda-Geres national park. Provincial towns have markets on different days and local restaurants specialising in Minho regional cuisine.

GUEST BOOK COMMENTS
HIDEAWAY PORTUGAL visit - October 2012. Recommended for many reasons. A tranquil, bucolic location, surrounded by farmland, streams, oak forest, villages. The Vez river, with clear mountain water is a short walk away. Accommodation is highly original, inspiring, eco-friendly: two pine chalets based on the regional elevated granary design. Inside they're light, natural, insulated and fitted out with modern amenities. An ideal base for exploring the scenic and traditional Alto Minho region and Peneda-Geres national park, with its mountain scenery and outdoor sporting pursuits. You'll be met by Joao Pedro, friendly, helpful, down-to-earth, a professional sailor and keen cyclist, who knows the area like the palm of his hand and will give you all the best insights for your stay. To get the most out of the area and not be rushed, a week is recommended.
