Rather than courses, we recommend taking in the local historic sights and culture by exploring the villages, towns and farms in the area. Here, you'll see daily life, still very traditional and rural, and especially so up in the Peneda-Geres national park. Provincial towns have markets on different days and local restaurants specialising in Minho regional cuisine. Sobrenatura will give recommendations on places to eat, cultural highlights and self-drive tours of the area. For those wanting in-depth guided tours, go with the local tour operator recommended by Sobrenatura.

HIDEAWAY PORTUGAL visit, October 2012. Some places take your breath away. Sobrenatura is one of these. Arriving here, you drive through narrow little lanes below high Vinho Verde vines in the old-world village of Gração, which clings to the side of the Serra de Soajo mountains. Eventually, you reach the end of the village and there it is- three granite houses and an infinity pool with a simply stunning view across the Lima valley to the granite Serra Amarela mountains. The gardens are beautifully kept, with lawns and mature oak trees. Houses have their own private decks and inside blend the traditional and rural with the contemporary. Great care has been made to make them clean and efficient in energy. Located near the heart of Peneda-Geres national park, Sobrenatura is a great base for exploring the area. Rui, chatty, friendly and passionate about the area, will meet you and give recommendations for authentic restaurants, villages to visit and things to see and do. Come for a week, at least. Outdoorsy down-to-earth people, nature-lovers and those in need of a relaxing country escape will like it here.
